This should give you some landmarks to enable you to revisit at your leisure. Although we live in a city, providing all the amenities as it does, it is compact enough with superb transport facilities to be able to travel from one place to another freely and easily.

Excursion Two

We will visit the gardens of the Pazo de Marinan, which is listed as one of the the twenty most important gardens in Spain. Here we will be able to view many plants that are native to or grow freely in this region, a variety of camellias is also on show seasonally. Then on to Betanzos, which is the ancient capital of Galicia, dating back to Roman times. situated on the banks of the rivers Mendo and Mandeo. The river Mandeo incidentally was used by Julius Caesar to travel into Betanzos. It is a medieval town which still has cobbled streets and old churches. and the old city walls, and parts of the old quarter are still evident for all to see.

Excursion Three

We will visit the cathedral town of Santiago de Compostela. Santiago (St James the elder) arrived in Spain to broadcast the word of Jesus in the year 39AD. He landed in Cartagena and traveled preaching all over Spain. He came to Galicia where he acquired many faithful followers, some of whom returned to Jerusalem with him five years later. Here, he was beheaded by Herod Agrippa during his crusade against Christians. Two of his faithful followers returned his body to Santiago. In the 10th Century an angel appeared to a hermit and revealed where the body was buried. Santiago had the first ever cathedral, at the end of this same century, this rustic cathedral was rebuilt. The second cathedral was burnt to the ground by the Moors. It was from these ruins that the third cathedral as you see today was constructed. It is of Romanesque inspiration with additions over the centuries, such as a Baroque facade and gothic features.

The Sugarcraft cookery holidays in Spain advertised begin on your arrival at La Coruñaairport on a Sunday. The direct daily flight from London Heathrow arrives at 1440. On arrival, you will be met and escorted to your hotel ( about 45 minutes drive ) from here your adventure begins.
