Sardinia is an island of many faces, consequently, a holiday in Sardinia can be tailor-made to suit your ideas and tastes. You could choose to stay near Alghero in the North West.  RyanAir flies into Alghero from London Stansted Airport on a frequent basis.

It is a very pretty city that combines an untouched and completely pedestrianised medieval town centre with beautiful beaches and clear seas. Originally a fishing village, it was seized by the Genoese towards the end of the 12th century and became an important fortress. The city then came under control of the Catalans in the 14th century and still has many Catalonian characteristics to this day. There is a vibrant restaurant and cafe scene where visitors can sample the local wines and the local cuisine especially renowned for its seafood dishes. This beautiful old town with its historic fortifications, the nearby beaches, caves, cliffs and the busy nightlife combine to make Alghero a great place to visit in its own right as well as being an ideal base from which to explore the rest of Sardinia. From here you can hire a car or even take public transport to other parts of the island, many of them, as yet undiscovered by mass tourism and offering a serene, relaxing holiday, but with sports and sightseeing on hand for those who want them !

The area of north eastern Sardinia is famous the world over, a name that speaks of elegance and wealth, great geographical and costal beauty, a synonym for V.I.P. The Costa Smeralda, the territory of the north eastern Sardinia community and township of Arzachena, the beginning for tourism in Sardinia some 40 years ago. From its "Emerald Sea" and the many white sandy beaches to villas, which make one wonder if they are real or perhaps part of a film set. Ports and coves whose anchored yachts are, at times, even bigger than the villas nestled into the surrounding hilltops.Yes, this is the Costa Smeralda no equal on earth, a place of the powerful, entertainers, politicians, athletes and the world's business class.

Unlike the north, east and south coasts, Sardinia’s central west coast south from Bosa to the islands of Sant’ Antioco and San Pietro, is for the most part, very much like it may have been 30 to 40 years ago. The Oristanese is an area beginning at the southern point of the Sinis Peninsula and northward to the seaside community of Santa Caterina di Pittinuri. A coastline blessed with an untouched geographical beauty which for the most part is unspoiled by man.

On the Sinis peninsula , you will want to wander the marshes, admire the pink clouds of flamingos taking off into the sunset, watch the local fisherman land his catch, and then allow the local restaurants to spoil you with a feast fit for a king based on the best of the day's catch.  Menu ? Not likely. A wonderful dinner, lovingly prepared and served with warmth and unparallelled hospitality.  A night-time walk where you can truly see the stars - What could interrupt this Paradise on earth? - Well, perhaps an international football match featuring Italy - but little else!

South of the city of Olbia (22km.), is the small town of San Teodoro and its 32 km of unspoiled coastline. A few decades ago a quiet, small, pastoral and fishing community, in recent years the region is becoming the number one location for Italian and European summer tourism in Sardinia. The coast is blessed with an unmatched splendour; long white sandy beaches, clear, and at times, transparent sea, large limestone and granite rock formations that capture the interior scenery, with San Teodoro the guardian, and Porto San Paolo to the north and Ottiolu to the south the lookouts. From the 4 Km.long La Cinta Beach and all the many other amazing white sandy beaches that dot this seaside paradise, to all the fine shops, fine restaurants and night spots, these locations are a must on any beach lovers' itinerary.
