Yvonne's enthusiasm and love of local history, tradition, language,
folklore and passion for sharing an inside look into some of England's
traditions and quirky ways ! - Enjoy special holidays in Britain
with Creativity Travel.
Creativity
Travel is located in the Garden of England (Kent) just one hour
from London and one hour from the English Channel with fast ferry
and train links to France. London Gatwick Airport is just over
an hour away and Kent International Airport within half an hour's
drive.
Kent is
a beautiful and historic county which offers countryside, seaside
and bustling modern cities and shopping centres. The famous
cathedral city of Canterbury with its neighbouring seaside towns
of Herne Bay and Whitstable (famed for its native oysters) between
them offer a wide variety of arts, culture, entertainment, sport
and watersports as well as a host of footpaths and bridlepaths
linking picturesque villages, complete with delightful churches,
traditional pubs and,of course, village greens.

The city,
seaside towns and villages between them host hundreds of traditional
and modern events including carnivals, food fayres, regattas,
garden fetes and village fetes and flower shows. In May,
Whitstable comes alive with May Day festivities with parades and
Morris dancers, whilst in July it is home to the lively Whitstable
Oyster Festival. The Canterbury Festival each autumn is
a feast of entertainment with lectures, concerts, walks, theatre
and street entertainment. Indeed it is difficult to find
a time of year when there is not a host of activities on offer
for residents and visitors to the district alike ! Creativity
Travel offers special guided tours of Whitstable as well as guided
tours of Canterbury.
The county
of Kent is in the south east of England, a region rich in experiences.
It has something to offer every age group and every traveller.
Whether you are looking at visiting for a weekend or a month this
region has everything you could want. See some of the historic
houses, country parks, castles and other attractions on offer
in the region on the website: www.visitsoutheastengland.com

My
England - A programme of special interest holidays in England
Looking
at South East England is like looking at all of England through
the wrong end of a telescope! So much of that which has affected
the UK as a whole had its roots and beginnings right here in Kent
or Sussex. The coastline has been home to ancient Britons, and
witnessed the arrival of Romans, Saxons, Normans and many other
'contributors to the culture' ! Julius Caesar landed just off
Deal, St Augustine and the beginnings of Christianity and civilisation
as we know it landed near Ramsgate and William of Normandy (known
as 'The Conqueror' ) landed in Pevensey Bay in Sussex. Had
Napoleon had his way or Adolph Hitler, perhaps the south-east
might have witnessed further invasions, certainly the fortifications
and defenses which exist today reflect that fear and possibility.
Apart
from the Maritime history, there are the wonderful stories, so
typical of rural England - this is, after all, The Garden of England
!
Then
there are the people; noblemen, peasants ( revolting or otherwise!
), smugglers, pirates, wreckers, and in modern day, entrepreneurs,
travellers, authors, broadcasters, actors, celebrities and, of
course, every day folk, living every day lives.
