A VERY SPECIAL COOKERY HOLIDAY IN SARDINIA
A very special holiday which offers a unique mix of culture and nature, and of course, the very best of classical Italian and Sardinian food. The Isola di San Pietro is a beautiful island off the south west coast of Sardinia. Within easy reach of the main island ( 20 minutes by a frequent ferry service ) - its history and location make it relatively untouched by mass tourism.
The perfect venue for an interesting, peaceful and yet active cookery holiday in an unspoiled, maritime environment. The cookery school is small, friendly and traditional, and it offers personal attention and a full day's activities.
The rich history of the island with its mix of culture, royalty and peace, mingled with barbaric pirate raids and slavery leaves a heritage which is evident today in the architecture, language and cuisine. The cookery school in a small, typical villa is run by Paolo and his wife. It is peaceful, and near to Girin and Punta Nera beaches, yet just 5 minutes drive from the main centre: Carloforte. The villa offers 3 en-suite bedrooms which are elegantly, and essentially furnished. There is internet access so that you can be far away and yet 'in touch' should you need to be so ! All meals are prepared in house and included in the holiday package. Breakfast is sumptuous with many local specialties including the Ligurian favourite; Focaccia alla Genovese. The sea, coast, countryside and wildlife are wonderful and, this is home, also to the pink flamingos which feed in the beautiful salt marshes. Picturesque beaches, white sands, rocky secluded bays and fascinating under water sites.
The villa runs a week-long cookery holiday, starting on Saturdays. Chef, Chiara trained in excellent schools with a high profile international experience - She is there to let you into some of the secrets of Mediterranean Italian cookery. She has been trained in the age-old authentic, Italian way, passed on through generations, The course is suitable for all abilities, so that you can learn new skills and techniques, and increase your repertoire of Mediterranean dishes, featuring fish, seafood, pasta, pizza, sauces, pies, cakes, wines and typical Sardinian cheeses.
